Student Objective:

Students will demonstrate a working knowledge of the American Revolution by researching key events and designing a Wiki Page to serve as a “working, living” research tool for years to come!

How will you accomplish this task?

Students will conduct short research projects to help generate a Davis Wiki detailing the American Revolution.

You will gather information from multiple print and digital sources and choose from a wide range of menu options to make your “tag” in the wiki a source of relevant information about your chosen topic for others to use in the future.

Your tasks:

  • Write an informative / explanatory text, including the narration of your historical event.

  • Gather relevant information from multiple print and digital sources, using search terms effectively; assess the credibility and accuracy of each source; and quote or paraphrase the data and conclusions of others. (While avoiding plagiarism- use standard format for citations)
  • 
Use technology, including the internet to produce and publish writing and present the information and ideas you have learned clearly and efficiently.
  • Introduce your topic clearly, previewing what is to follow; organize ideas, concepts, and information. Include formatting (e.g., headings) graphics (e.g., charts, tables, pictures) and multimedia when useful to aid the reader in comprehension.
  • 
Develop the topic with relevant, well-chosen facts, definitions, concrete details, quotations or other information and examples.

  • Use appropriate and varied transitions to create cohesion and clarify the relationships among ideas and concepts.

  • Use precise language and domain specific vocabulary to inform about or explain topic.

  • Establish and maintain a formal style and objective tone.

  • Provide a concluding statement or section that allows follows and supports the information presented.
